Premier Award


Miracle on the Estate (BBC Religion and Ethics for BBC 1)

Producer/director Chris Salt; executive producer Hugh Faupel; researcher Nick Holden-Sim; writers Michael Symmons Roberts and James Atherton.

The residents of a tough Manchester housing estate join forces with a poet, a composer and a director to produce their own Mystery Play based on the story of the flood, uncovering in the process a sense of community and untapped talent.

Merit Award

Dispatches: Saving Africa's Witch Children (Red Rebel/Oxford Scientific Films for Channel 4)  

Narrator Sophie Okonedo; producers/directors Mags Gavan and Joost Van der Valk; executive producers Alice Keens-Soper, Paul Woolwich

Englishman Gary Foxcroft raises money to help Nigerian Sam Itauma care for children who have been violently exorcised after being accused fo witchcraft.  Gary is also trying to get the local government to protect them from the "Christian" pastors undertaking such exorcisms.
