2012 Radio and Television Awards

Wednesday May 23rd is the date of the forthcoming Sandford St Martin Awards at Lambeth Palace when around £10,000 in prize money will be awarded to the best of the UK's Radio and Television programmes examining religious themes, or exploring aspects of life of particular interest to religious communities.  Full details of entry requirements along with entry forms can be downloaded from the links below.  Programmes from all genres are welcome.  Previous winners have included comedy and drama programmes as well as documentary and specialist religious output.  Local and community stations are also encouraged to apply and there is a reduced entry fee for them.

Closing dates for all entries is 10 February 2012 - but please don't leave it until the last minute!   We can accept your entries NOW

RELIGIOUS RADIO AWARDS 2011

 This year's Premier Award winner, the "King James Bible Readings" consisted of a total of 7 hours of Bible readings broadcast throughout one day on Radio 4. Made by the BBC's Religion and Ethics Radio unit in collaboration with the BBC Readings Unit, the Bible readings were introduced with short essays from writers representing different literary genres.

Religious Television Awards 2011

 Mainstream drama and comedy featured heavily in the winning programmes this year, so as well as "The Nativity" taking two major prizes - BBC TWO's comedy "Rev" about an inner-city Vicar picked up one of the Merit Awards. The Production team - including stars Tom Hollander and Olivia Colman were at the ceremony to pick up their award.
